University of Hawai‘i Community Colleges CTE Programs

Beatboxers is BYU’s 2018 senior video-game project. I was a part of the animation team. We wanted to create very specific fighting styles for our two characters, Maestra and Riff. These characters were based on a violin and a guitar and represented classical and rock music. 

 

To keep the animation in feeling with fighting to the beat, we opted for a stepped, pose-based animation style. This gave gameplay a different texture, and helped BeatBoxers stand out. I was responsible for Maestra's idle, stagger, and dash, and Riff's stagger.
